Todays Gadget - A iTrip
Okay as you know I bought a iPod a while ago and it's bloody fantastic, although it should carry a warning that listening to it in public may result in you singing and looking like a complete idiot. Also when in my car on my recent excursion to London for a gig on the way back a I wished for a wider selection of music in my car, there is after all only so many CD's you can carry at one time.
So off I toddled to our local (well I say local nearest would be more accurate) apple seller and buy myself a iTrip. The first thing that struck me about it was how bloody small it is, from all the pictures I'd seen of it it looked rather large and bulky but its tiny! Plus plug and play that actually works. Plug the iTrip into the top of iPod goto car turn on radio tune to the frequency and thats it. Kick arse. Slight radio sound quality (not that much though) but what did you expect really it is using radio waves to transmit now after all.
Got a gig over in Manchester tonight so that should give me a bit of a run to try it out.

I thought those things were illegal in this country? It is classed as broadcasting a radio station without a license. Albeit a rather short range radio station!
And so what was it like gigging in manchester? never got round to that myself. Or london come to think of it :(
They are illegal.
They are illegal or so I hear, I think your ment to sign a form saying that although you've bought it your never use it so as you wont start a pirate radio station or somesuch. Which is highly unlikely as I lose the signal if I walk into the next room.
The Manchester gig could of been better had the amps not blown up one after the other, during the first song.
Sod illegal. I've just ordered one too for the car. Not an iTrip though. I'm no way NEAR cool enough to own an iPod. I have the tech connoisseur's mp3 player in the ungainly form of a Creative Nomad Jukebox3. Its as big as a CD walkman, but boy does she go! Pretty good sound quality and it has a standard laptop hard dirve in it (currently at 20 gigs) so you can hack it apart and change the drive for other bigger better ones. If one so wishes that is.
But yeah an fm transmitter thingy i have just bought today from ebay. The law obviously doenst apply to ebay as all the sellers are in hong kong :D
